  The current Mayor of Anaheim is an embarrassment to its citizens and the visiting public. His leadership, or lack thereof, is shameful and is infecting every department within the city. My motivation for writing this review is the experience my partner and I have had recently with the City of Anaheim Code Enforcement, the Mayors office, and the General Services Accounting department. In the City of Anaheim, a citizen can "anonymously" report another neighbor for any infraction and instigate a nightmare of paperwork and inspections. And, in our case, the letters were sent to another home in another city! We did not even know this was happening until we were in thousands of dollars. When I first received a notice, I acted within minutes to resolve the "anonymous" complaint. I called the City of Anaheim Code Enforcement Division and only received voice mail, over and over... I finally decided to contact the Mayors office to arrange a meeting. I was told, "The Mayor decides who he is going to meet..." Is this how we want our government to operate? When I have an issue that requires the Mayor's assistance, I expect a meeting with the Mayor. I am an intelligent, educated, home owner in this city! I received no calls from his office, that was months ago. We contested the fees incurred due to this comedy of City of Anaheim errors, based upon an "anonymous" complaint from a neighbor about a single bush in our front yard. (Yes, seriously, this problem began with a bush that exceeded 3 feet, the bush was taller than 3 feet upon purchase of our home.) We made time for a "hearing" that was clearly just an opportunity to drag the whole situation out further, because despite our testimony about the original complaint from the neighbor being mailed to the wrong address (no notice was left on our actual home), and the fact that the neighbor involved only sought to instigate this complaint because he does not like that a GAY couple bought the house next door. I thought, wrongly, that our Mayor, Tom Tait, who promised to make Anaheim a "kind city" by creating, "the Hi Neighbor program, which simply encourages neighbors to get to know one another through acts of kindness and to build social infrastructure that leads to stronger, more resilient communities." He is clearly more concerned about his reelection and politics than he is with our city. He is a stooge of Disney, you would think that Disneyland is the only citizen of the city. I am quite sure if a Disneyland executive contacted him for a meeting, his assistant would have set up the meeting without so much as a glance at his schedule. Am I upset, yes. Am I tired of living in a city that caters to Disneyland and the complaints of its most unwilling to integrate into a cohesive community. I am a self-employed, licensed Private Investigator, my partner is a CEO of a large local company. This issue is not about the money, its about the corruption and lack of kindness in an administration that promised both.
